Fandango (1982 Herb Alpert Album)

Fandango is 1982 album from Herb Alpert. That year was released after three years that gave Herb a success from his song "Rise", which hit number one on Billboard Hot 100.

It includes the title track (which is also the opening track) and the closing track is The Latin Medley (Frenesi, Bahia, Moliendo Café, Porompompero). It has 11 tracks and multiple Latin and Mexican flavoured songs with a modern sound. His album was one of his acclaimed albums of his whole career. His only song charted on Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 was "Route 101".

 

Meanwhile, the commercial of this album included Alpert's appearance. It opened with the woman who question to the interviewer. It ended with the taco exploded while Alpert playing. See how this album is more than two medicines and it is super-strength!

 

Jim Kirk and the TM Singers

Did you know that President and Chief Creative Officer of Corporate Magic James R. Kirk had a single along with the singers? Right, in 1980, Jim Kirk and the TM Singers has only one song to charted in Billboard Hot 100 at #71 called "Voice of Freedom". Sadly, it spent only 3 weeks and it disappointed.


Meanwhile, aside from the TM Singers, TM named as 'TM Productions' or simply as 'TM Production', 'TM Programming', 'TM Special Projects', 'TM Media Research Graphics' and 'TM International'. It was known for TM as 'TM Companies'. TM Companies often to be a place for broadcasters.

Back to "Voice of Freedom", this song has B-side called "The Star Spangled Banner", our American national anthem. It released under Capitol and it proceeded to American Red Cross because it maybe often to be the promised charity song. It also part of 1980 NBC public affair/talk show "Speak Up America" which lasted from August 1 to October 10 that year.

"Computer Games (Theme From The Circus)"- Yellow Magic Orchestra

Computer Games (Theme From The Circus) is the song by Japanese trio Yellow Magic Orchestra from the debut album Yellow Magic Orchestra (Billboard 200, #81).  It was the theme song from the Exidy arcade game called Circus. Circus is the arranged version of Breakout (Atari) and it copied from different game companies in Japan and US. This electronic-synthpop song including sound effects from this game and either it might failed to be a novelty hit because it peaked #60 on Billboard Hot 100 in 1980. Meanwhile, Yellow Magic Orchestra got many hits in Japan and it remained actively since 2007 after their first disbandment in 1984 (the time after their first musical film Propaganda) and several brief reunions in the 1990s and the 2000s (until 2007).

Mike Pinera

Mike Pinera (born September 29, 1948) is the 1960s guitarist of the band Blues Image. Later, after Blues Image disbanded, he joined another band Iron Butterfly, then he joined Ramatam. He was later formed the band called New Cactus (later Cactus).

 

In 1978, he debuted his solo album Isla. In 1979, he released his second album, Forever, Mike Pinera. Both are failed to reach the Billboard 200.

His song from his second album Goodnight, My Love peaked #70 on Billboard Hot 100. Sadly, it was the only song didn't hit well. It might mean that his solo career maybe over.

 

 

Fro 1980 to 1983, he was the guitarist of Alice Cooper. He currently headlined with the Classic Rock All Stars tour.
